Valentine's Day. The day that Loki has hated ever since he got turned down by a girl in high school. He vowed to never, ever celebrate another Valentine's Day as long as he shall live. However, that was before he had met Trine. Beautiful Trine, the apple of Loki's eye. The bane of his existence. See the two of them have been seeing each other now for about a month and a half, close to two months. He's found himself falling deeper and deeper in love with her and he is going to go crazy. He has yet to kiss her because he doesn't want to make her feel uncomfortable in any way. He knows that he could potentially scare her off and he really doesn't want that. He's never felt a connection as deep as he feels one with her.
Loki was preparing dinner for Trine tonight. A nice chicken parmesan dinner with spaghetti and Italian bread. He also baked a cake for dessert and he couldn't wait to impress her with dinner. He bought some wine for the two of them to share. Tonight, in his eyes, was a special night. First off it was the first Valentine's Day he's ever shared with anyone. Second it was the day that he was intending on asking Trine to be his girlfriend. And he was hoping to eventually, sometime tonight, get the courage to kiss her. He just hoped that when he did ask her to be his girlfriend, she wouldn't laugh at him and say that she didn't feel the same way. He hoped that she would tell him of course she would be his girlfriend. But with Trine, she could very well surprise him.

Valentine's Day was one of those days Trine never really understood. Why take one day out of the year to show someone you loved them when you had all the other ones? She'd rather have someone love her all year instead of just one day. A few times she'd been jealous that she didn't have a date for Valentine's Day, but that was in her naive youth. Now she really didn't mind and preferred all the couples at her work to be out so she could have some peace and quiet at the office while she worked on cases. But this year was different. This year she was dating someone. It was still hard to believe that SHE, "Miss Independent" was dating. However, she had to admit that she liked it. Okay, she LOVED it. But no one would ever find out.
When she received no calls from Loki all day, Trine couldn't help but feel irked. She'd at least been expecting a "Happy Valentine's Day" or a "hi". But nope. Instead, she heard nothing. She tried to tell herself that it was out of character for her to care so much. Why should she care? They weren't serious; this whole dating thing was just for fun. For a fleeting moment during a case, Trine wondered if Loki was planning something, but she told herself she shouldn't expect that because, again, they weren't serious.
So Trine was on the couch watching shows on Netflix when her phone dinged. She opened up a message from Loki, slightly irritated it had taken him this long to text her. She had a faint smile on her face as she read it, but it quickly fell and formed into a frown when she read the rest of it. 'Hey beautiful! I hope your day is going wonderful! I was wondering if you could come over tonight around 5. I need help cleaning my living room. ~Loki' Was he serious? The nerve of him to ask something like that! Okay, first of all she wasn't his girlfriend, and she highly doubted they were in the friend zone. Could friends date? Okay they probably could, but still. Second of all, that was so not romantic. But wait, why did she care, again? She shook her head at herself. She almost didn't go, but she reminded herself that she shouldn't be bothered about any of this. Just act natural. But with Loki, that was getting harder and harder to do.
She grabbed her leather jacket and headed out the door. She hopped on her motorcycle and headed over to Loki's. She had his address because… She didn't really know how she had it. Oh yeah, she'd taken it down from his records in case she'd ever need it. Loki would never find that out, though. But something told her he wouldn't care. She knocked on the door and walked in when it was open. Clearly she was not happy as she took her helmet off and almost stomped inside. "So what are we doing? Moving-" She stopped dead in her tracks as she saw the dinner table nicely set and smelled wonderful food. The pieces came together and she turned around to face Loki again. She was absolutely dumbfounded. How did she not see this coming? Normally she'd be able to tell someone was planning something… But again, her senses seemed to be deadened with Loki, her match.
"Did you-? Is that why you didn't text me all day!?" She playfully shoved Loki. "I can't believe you!" But she was grinning from ear to ear. She shook her head, touched that he would do all this for her. "Wow. So is this the official start of our prank war? Does this count as a prank or a surprise?"

Loki knew that he wasn't always the most romantic person, but when he started talking and dating Trine, he knew he wanted to make things official between the two of them. He wanted to make this Valentine's Day special for the two of them. He, however, wanted to keep her guessing and to keep her wondering if he was ever going to call. He knew that she was going to be pissed, but he hoped that once he showed her and once she saw what he had been planning, that anger would disappear. He still couldn't believe that he was dating Trine. He kept thinking to himself how had he gotten so lucky as to be dating a girl as beautiful as Trine. He really couldn't answer that question but honestly he wasn't going to be questioning it anymore than he already does. He considers himself very lucky.
Loki heard her motorcycle and he smiled to himself as he put the finishing touches on the table. He had flowers in the fridge and he had her gift in the cabinet in the kitchen. Loki heard her knock on the door and he opened it. He could see the unhappy demeanor that overtook her body. He saw her take the helmet off and heard what she started to say. He smiled as she saw the table and the food smell. He heard what she said and he stumbled a bit and he wrapped his arms around her, hugging her back to his chest. "Yeah. I've never had anyone to celebrate Valentine's Day with and I wanted to make it special." Loki said softly. He loved having her in his arms. "This, my dear, would count as a surprise." He said. He took her hand and led her into the kitchen. "These..." He said opening the fridge and taking out the flowers, "Are for you."

When Loki wrapped his arms around her and hugged her, Trine wasn't sure what to do. She liked this a lot and she was afraid to ruin it. But soon she relaxed and even placed her hand -if a bit awkwardly- on his arms. "Wow…" was all she could say to his explanation. She still found it hard to believe Loki never had anyone before to celebrate this day with, and it made her feel proud that they were both experiencing it together for the first time.
She followed him into the kitchen, liking the way their hands fit together. Ugh, she was getting all mushy- is this what love did to people? Would she lose her edge? She hoped not; she needed it for her work. Her eyes widened slightly at the flowers, but she was more surprised at her emotions. If someone had told her that she'd feel special and actually like being given flowers, she'd laugh hysterically. But with Loki, everything was different. However, she had to admit that it was a good different. Ugh, what would Vera say about all this? The thought made her blush and she had to focus her attention back on Loki. She took the flowers gently and smiled at him. "Thank you, they are beautiful," she said, smelling them. Their scent was sweet. "I'm glad it's a surprise, and not a prank- that would have taken some of the joy out of it." She winked at him.
ELLEN ELIZABETH WATSON: That sounds familiar. I used to be that way. I still am, but I've learned to let go a little.

EMMA GRACE DANVERS (GOODMAN): Alec is too good to me, how did I deserve him. I'm such a perfectionist that I am afraid to screw up

ELLEN ELIZABETH WATSON: Everyone screws up. I've screwed up so many times I can't even keep track, but you just have to pick yourself up and learn to forgive yourself which can be the hardest thing to do
Sept 18, 2013 22:28:38 GMT -5
EMMA GRACE DANVERS (GOODMAN): Thank you so much Ellen. I know Alec is there to encourage me, but sometimes I feel he's put me on this great mother pedestal. I'm afraid of screwing up.
Sept 18, 2013 22:25:29 GMT -5
ELLEN ELIZABETH WATSON: I wouldn't worry too much Emma. You're very maternal, something I never was, and I managed to do it alone. If you ever need to talk about parenting, I'm always here
Sept 18, 2013 22:10:52 GMT -5
EMMA GRACE DANVERS (GOODMAN): I'm just worried about being a good mother. Since my own mother is no longer here to advice me. I just want to do her proud *nervous look*
Sept 18, 2013 22:09:25 GMT -5
EMMA GRACE DANVERS (GOODMAN): well I think Alec will be worried when it comes to that age. He'll probably buy a shotgun and ward off any boy who comes a courting.

ELLEN ELIZABETH WATSON: -laughs- you don't have to worry about that for a while. I told Victoria when she was going into sixth grade, but I think it also depends on the child
