OCCUPATION owns a small business fixing and selling instruments
Benjamin's eyes aren't that extraordinary. Just a typical dark blue that easily gives away his emotions. His hair is a boring blonde color and he likes to keep it short most of the time, unless a girlfriend tells him she likes it a bit longer. It really doesn't matter to him what he does with his hair as long as it isn't something extreme.
As for what he wears, he doesn't pay attention to anything that's hot during the season, but he makes sure he doesn't embarrass himself. So he sticks to jeans and sweaters or t-shirts. Most of the time he'll wear tennis shoes but he'll wear dress shoes when he needs to dress up for something.
He stands at 5'6" and weighs around 130 pounds. It's not like he has a six pack but his abs are pretty firm and he has strong muscles from loading, unloading, and carrying around heavy instruments. His hygiene is always top-notch and some might say he's even obsessed with making sure everything on him and around him is clean.
He's hardly ever in a hurry so his walk is kept at a casual pace and his arms will be kept relaxed at his sides. He's always looking around at different things so the walks never become boring.

Benjamin can be hard to understand until you really get to know him. On the surface he's very polite and respectful, always wanting to make people feel comfortable. But there is a pain from his past that he keeps well-hidden by just forgetting it's there. Although he does wear his heart on his sleeve, whenever someone asks what's wrong he'll just clam right up and tell them not to worry about it. This can be dangerous because then he becomes a ticking time bomb and can blow up at any minute unless he be by himself. He knows it's not good to not share what he's feeling when there's a possible conflict, but there's just something he doesn't like about making himself vulnerable. So the rare times he opens up will only be to true friends or people he knows he can trust.
He's like a savant when it comes to instruments. He can tell almost immediately how well it was made just by the feel of it, why a note is constantly flat if it's not obvious, or how much it was used if it's made up to look new. He's constantly buying broken or old instruments and fixing them up on his downtime. That's the only time he isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. Good old resin or brass polish never hurt anyone, and it's one of the rare substances he doesn't mind getting under his fingernails.
Most of the time he's a pretty quiet guy but talk to him about instruments and he'll open up immediately with eyes sparkling with interest. Although he can get along with pretty much anyone, isn't one to hold a grudge for most things and will let insults roll off like water on a duck's back, when someone threatens him or the ones he cares about it's goodbye Mr. Nice Benjamin. He's also the type of person to be friendly with others while at the same time being able to keep to himself.
Benjamin was born to Nathaniel and Bridget Mathers in Willmington, Delaware. He had two older sister and an older brother, and the middle-class family lived in a nice house in a suburban neighborhood until Ben was thirteen. Then his dad received a job offer in Providence, Rhode Island, so the family packed up and moved there. Ben's high school years weren't always exciting but they weren't always horrible, either. He mostly kept to himself but talked with the kids in band and a few other after-school clubs. It was a rough time but not as bad as a lot of other kids' experiences. He always studied hard and got good grades because he loved to learn. The only one of his siblings who actually enjoyed going to school for learning and his idea of a fun time was study groups every other month.
When it was time for Benjamin to go to college, he realized what he really wanted to pursue was music. He played trombone in high school for about two years. He wasn't the best, but he was able to play songs without embarrassing himself. Then he moved to the drums and was surprised to find he could keep a good beat. However he was interested in all instruments and since he was five he would always experiment with different ones. When he was nine he found an old violin in the trash and was able to fix it up. It wasn't something anyone would want to play, but it looked great on a wall for decoration. As he found more broken instruments and fixed them up, the better his skills got. Then when he was able to take metals and woods classes in high school his talent skyrocketed. Soon he knew that his real dream was to have his own business fixing and selling instruments, but he wanted to have another job to build up the funds to do that. So he went to Northwestern and majored in music education.
Once he graduated college he went back to Providence and worked as a band teacher until he was twenty-seven. His students told him how much he'd inspired them to play instruments and follow their dreams, and that touched him deeply. But it was time to live out his dream so he moved to Wentworth because the small town life-style was perfect for him. Within a year his business was up and running and he's happy to say business has been good ever since.
