Overwhelming, that's what the past few weeks has been for Marcus. He had the huge blowout with his mom that sent him over the edge. He felt bad in the end for lashing out on his mom, but he's bottled up so much that he just snapped. That was the same day that Lawson and his mother found out about him cutting himself. He told his mom he would stop, but the only reason why he told her he would stop was so she could get off his back about it, and she would stop hounding him. The first week after his mom found out he was cutting himself was torture. His mom wouldn't leave him alone. She was constantly watching him; in school, at home, everywhere. He had to leave the bathroom door open when he showered. When he was in his room, his door had to be open at all time otherwise the door would be off the hinge. So when he did manage to cut himself, he did it after his mom went to bed, or he snuck out and did it. During the whole cutting ordeal, Lawson had been a savior to Marcus. Lawson didn't hover over him and he let him have his space. He didn't constantly watch him like he was some sort of mental patient. Sure Lawson checked in on Marcus, but that's all he did. He gave Marcus the chance to talk if he wanted to but he didn't force him to talk if he didn't want to.
His mother being in the hospital and almost dying due to the blood lost. And his mother losing the baby that she was pregnant with, was all too much for Marcus to handle. School was becoming too much for him and he just felt very overwhelmed and suffocated. He couldn't take it anymore. At least once every hour, he disappeared to the bathroom to cut himself. With Lawson and his mother not in the school, it made it easier for him to escape and do what he wanted to do. When he got home after school, he acted as normal as possible so his mom and Lawson didn't suspect anything was wrong. But then, when we went home, it was just full of depression and he couldn't handle it being in the house with people depressed. He was depressed already so to be around people who were just as depressed, made him even more depressed to the point where it was unbearable.
Marcus disappeared into the bathroom during one of his classes at school. He was planning on doing his normal routine, just one cut and then he would go back to class, but his plan was changed. Marcus went too deep and he found that he didn't mind it very much. He felt at peace with everything. His life was fading away and he didn't really care. Marcus slid against the wall and let his head rest on the wall. He felt the world becoming black and the world was disappearing around him. Faith, another Sophomore, came into the bathroom and saw Marcus and immediately went to tell the principal. The principal rushed to the bathroom with his cell phone in hand, already dialing 911. The principal wrapped the wound on Marcus's wrist and then he got on the phone to call Lawson. "Mr. Andrews, this is the principal. It's about Marcus. You need to get over to Huggins Hospital immediately. Marcus is being taken there as we speak. Please keep me informed on how he is."
