Addison pushed open the door to the computer lab and started in with her backpack snug on her back. She was surprised to see that it was pretty packed, as she didn’t expect there to be so many people in the computer lab. ‘What the heck, maybe everyone got an essay on the same day.’ She thought to herself as she quietly made her way to an empty seat. She didn’t know anyone around her so she felt kind of uncomfortable. That was just like Addison though.
She decided to pull up word and start on the easy she had been given the day before. She hated homework and knew if she didn’t start early she would never do the essay. The Boston Tea Party, such a boring subject. She sighed to herself and pulled up the internet. She couldn’t help but feel out of place. She had started school the end of last year and everyone had already been settled into their cliques and seemed to want nothing to do with new girls that they didn’t know. She hoped this year would be different but she had to admit to herself that she wasn’t exactly the type of person who was always going out of the way to make new friends. Everyone was always talking about going to parties and hanging out, she secretly wished that she would be invited to a party.
She tried to push her loneliness from her mind as she searched endlessly for information on the Boston Tea Party. She tried to be nonchalant as she peered over at the person’s computer screen next to her. She was curious if other people were working on the same essay she was. Everything was kind of noisy in the computer lab. Most of the students were just playing games and hanging out. It made her feel a little better that everyone was doing their own thing. At least they weren’t all looking at her or something scary like that. Addison hated to be pointed out.
She ran her hand through her blonde hair as she started to daydream about the past and about her mother, and about everything she missed back at home. She was happy to be here at Wentworth. The academy was great! She just missed all of her friends back home. Even missed her mother who had never wanted to have anything to do with her. She missed her pets, she missed her pink bed sheets and poster of Linkin Park on her wall. She couldn’t help but miss it all.
