Evelyn was woken up by the sound of her daughter crying out for her. Evelyn got up and put her robe on. Her daughter usually slept through the night and never woke Evelyn up. The last time Evelyn was woken up in the middle of the night was when Lily was a baby and she needed to be fed or changed. So when Evelyn heard her daughter calling for her, she felt a panic run through her body. Evelyn rushed to her daughter's room and was met with her daughter sitting up in bed, puke all over her bed and her clothes. "Oh baby..." Evelyn said softly. Evelyn helped her daughter out of bed and she brought her to the bathroom. Evelyn cleaned her daughter's face and started the bath. She stripped off Lily's clothes and helped her into the bathtub when it was the right temperature. Evelyn cleaned up her daughter and let her sit in the tub for a minute while she went and got her daughter's clothes. Evelyn dressed her daughter and wrapped her in a blanket and sat her on her bed. Evelyn stripped Lily's bed and decided that Lily would be sleeping with her.
Evelyn threw the bedding in the washer and started it. Evelyn grabbed the thermometer and went back to her room. Her daughter looked unnaturally pale. "Let mommy take your temperature," Evelyn said softly. Evelyn took her daughter's temperature and frowned when she saw it was 103.5. "Okay baby mommy's going to be taking you to the doctors okay?" Evelyn threw her hair up in a bun and threw on some sweats and a sweatshirt. She grabbed her daughter's coat and her daughter's stuffed puppy and blanket. Evelyn grabbed her phone and keys and picked up Lily. She put Lily in her car seat and took off towards the hospital. She looked in the rearview mirror and looked at her daughter. "You alright baby?" Evelyn asked nervously. "I'm okay mommy," Lily said in barely a whisper. Evelyn noticed she looked really tired and that made her speed up to get to the hospital faster.
Evelyn was taken almost immediately because Lily started throwing up again and when an ER nurse came to check her temperature in the waiting room it was 104.5 and that worried her. Evelyn sat on the bed with Lily, brushing her hair back out of her face. The nurse gave Lily some ice chips to suck on to see if that would help cool her down. Evelyn was also able to put an ice pack on the back of Lily's neck to help cool her off. A doctor came in to do a blood screening and to check Lily's vitals. Evelyn was thankful when Lily was finally able to sleep. Evelyn sat on the chair next to the bed. She sent a text to Lawson, not knowing if he would be up at 3 in the morning. Hey Law. I'm at the hospital with Lily. She was throwing up and had a fever of 103.5 and when I got to the hospital it was 104.5. They're concerned at how pale and dehydrated she is. Just waiting on a room. Let me know if you want to come. Evelyn sent the text to Lawson. She sighed and wished she had brought a book to read while she was here.
