lights will guide you home
Faith was still in shock. She couldn't believe she had seen a fellow classmate bloodied in the bathroom; it was like something out of a horror movie, and she couldn't get that image out of her head. For most of her life, she had remained pretty innocent. A lot of life's realities were unbeknownst to her. In fact, this was probably the most horrifying thing her eyes had ever witnessed. After getting the principal's help, she was still worried about the boy. She had classes with him, but never talked to him. She only knew his name was Marcus Andrews, but that didn't stop her from worrying.
It had been a few days after the incident, and Faith felt sick to her stomach. She knew what she needed to do, so after she finished her classes, she took the bus to the Hospital. She only needed to know if he was alright. If he was at least alive.
The girl went over to the front desk and asked where Marcus Andrews was staying. The lady told her room 4C. Faith thanked the woman and took the elevator up to the fourth floor. In her mind, she was mulling over what she was going to say. They had never formally met before, so she was afraid he'd find this weird. But she couldn't help it, Faith needed to visit him. Especially after being the one to find him.
When she got to the door where he was staying, she stood there, debating whether to go in or turn around and leave. She decided to be brave and go in. She offered him a kind smile before pulling up a chair. Thankfully, no one was in the room; his family must have stepped out for lunch or something. "Hi," she said shyly. "I know you don't know me. I'm Faith Sullivan; I'm in the same grade as you," she explained. "I was the one who, um, found you. I just wanted to know if you were...alright."
