the city sleeps and we're lost in the moment
She was supposed to be sitting in class right now, taking notes on something she could hardly care less about. Yet, here she was, a small flask of vodka in one hand and a book in the other. She didn't even know what she was doing here... All she knew was that she couldn't bare to sit through another boring class. It was her last class of the day and she'd be damned if she was going to take notes again. Screw class, she was over it for the day! Maybe she could try again tomorrow, but she had a feeling that this little retreat might become a habit.
The abandoned building was dirty and just a bit lonely, but the junior didn't mind. She was used to being alone and the dirty aspect was something she could find herself getting used to. Besides, it was just a bit of dust, nothing too major... At least, that she knew of. Truth be told, she had only been in there once before and it was for a party where the rooms were pitch black and the only sources of light were their phones. That was certainly not a night she wanted to relive, especially with the amount of trouble she got in once she left the scene. Sometimes she relived it in nightmares, but they were less frequent now and sometimes it was better to not even think of it. If she didn't think about it, then it didn't happen, right?
Amity let out a long sigh, bringing the flask to her chapped lips. The rough, burning sensation that came with the gulps of vodka were nothing new to the brunette and so she welcomed it with open arms, finding it a hell of a lot better than continuing to think of everything bad that had happened in her life. They say that any bad choices you experience make for great stories, but that certainly wasn't the case with her. Almost everything she did was terrible and while her party stories were slightly legendary, what happened after a party or two was certainly never going to be told aloud. It was... frightening. She hated even the idea of it and truth be told, she hated how it made her feel. Weak, worthless, nothing... The feelings that accompanied the terrible action were things that she couldn't take and while therapy helped for a little while, it was gone and all she felt was a numbness that chilled her to the bones.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a noise outside the classroom she took refuge in and it allowed a shiver to engulf her body. She gazed at the slightly ajar door, hazel eyes wide with something close to fear and anticipation. Who, or what, was that and did she have a right to be afraid? She sucked in a breath and waited, pressing her body closer to the wall behind her. Her mind raced with the possibilities that could happen right now and she began to panic a bit, trying her hardest to stay as quiet as she could. If they didn't hear her, then they wouldn't have a reason to stay, right? Her heart beat steadily in her chest, pounding against her ribcage so loudly that she believed that they could hear her heart alone... 'Please, just leave...'
