Oh how she'd missed this. Sex wasn't a major necessity in their marriage, meaning that neither of them were obsessed with it. But it was nice to get this close and be able to please each other. Alex was the farthest thing from a selfish lover and Victoria loved that about him. She liked to be the same so they really did balance each other out quite nicely. She sighed happily when she felt Alex's strong arms wrap around her waist. When she was pregnant with little Ellen it had gotten harder over time for them to even get this close, there was always
"something" between them. And now that she was pregnant again she'd have to make sure Alex wrapped his arms around her waist as much as he could for as long as he could.
Victoria's heart swelled when Alex used her full name and she smiled, unable to keep her eyes from watering. "I love you, too, Alexander Edgar Bryant. And I'll never get tired of being reminded that I'm now Victoria Bryant." Her heart jumped whenever she remembered or heard it spoken. Maybe it was because they were still in the lovebird phase but Victoria had a feeling she'd never stop feeling giddy about it.
She brushed her hand gently across her husband's forehead, tucking a stray curl back behind his hear in the process. She loved his curly hair. It wasn't overly curly; it was the perfect type of curly, meaning it wasn't a frizz ball. She giggled at the image and kissed Alex again.
But when she heard a noise she pulled away and her eyes widened slightly when she saw her parents. "Mum!"
She gently but quickly pushed Alex off of her out of respect and she felt herself blushing, but she wasn't too surprised. She'd guessed this was going to happen so she wasn't too concerned. But she did feel bad for Alex so she gently squeezed his hand. Imagining what she would have felt like if it had been Alex's parents coming down the stairs she sent him an apologetic glance, but there was still a twinkle in her eye. Her head snapped back at Lawson and she flashed her eyes at him, but that only caused him to laugh. However, her mother's words to Lawson made Victoria laugh, and she laughed harder at Lawson's expression of terror.
"Wow. Out cold? What'd you do to her? Did you talk about politics again or play NPR?" Victoria winked at her mother to let her know she was only teasing. "Actually, this one here wanted to play NPR while I was pregnant with baby Ellen." She gave Alex her best side eye and Lawson's eyes widened. "That's creepily accurate," she heard him say.
"Ah yes, I'm sure you've gotten that look before. Especially if you've been making many innuendos." Victoria smirked, causing Lawson to glare playfully at her.
"Well your side eye is good, but no one can compare to Ellen's side eye. I wonder if baby Ellen will be a mini-Ellen." Lawson paused to think about what he'd just said but soon shook his head when he figured it made sense.
Victoria smiled at Lawson and Ellen's interaction with each other but she was blushing again when Lawson made another innuendo.
"I doubt they'll be doing much sleeping," Lawson said, taking Ellen's drink and taking a sip in a cheeky manner.
She cleared her throat and pretended to act haughtily as she pulled Alex up by the hand. "Come Alex, we shouldn't be listening to such immature accusations." But she sent him a wink, making sure her parents wouldn't see it, before saying goodnight and practically running up the stairs, not hearing Lawson's "you're welcome" to Alex.
When she went into the room she stopped and a smile grew on her face. The lights were low and a roaring fire was in a beautiful fire place. She wondered who'd done this and she turned to look at Alex. "Did you do this?" Her expression was curious.
