OUTFIT
The Andrews had been truly blessed this Christmas, and Lawson's heart was light and his spirits were soaring as he led the family out of the church. They'd gone to mass for Christmas Eve because Ellen had wanted to, and who could say no to her? But Lawson had actually enjoyed the service and was thanking God the whole time.
His hair had gotten a little more gray around the edges, but he'd gotten used to it and actually started to think it made him look distinguished. Things had changed drastically over the past five years, but they were good changes. In fact, they were fantastic changes. The best five years of Lawson's life, and never in his life had he thought he'd be this happy. It seemed almost impossible for someone to go through five years of pure happiness. Of course there was disappointment, tension, and pressure, but the happiness and wonderful outcome outweighed the negatives greatly. Marcus was able to overcome his addiction to cutting and he was happy now. He was a sophomore in college now and was doing great, Natalie was able to repair her relationship with Ellen and she even came to accept Lawson, and Victoria was five years sober and a well-known costume designer. Best of all? Lawson was married to Ellen. That trumped the fact that Ellen was the first female president!, which was also amazing! Sometimes Lawson felt like he was still dreaming and would wake up at any minute. Oh! And he was a grandfather now! Victoria was married to a wonderful man, Alex, and Lawson could see how happy they were. It was so refreshing to see a young couple still genuinely in love after three years of marriage. And their daughter, whom they named Ellen, was beautiful. Lawson and Ellen had only been able to see their granddaughter in pictures, so this was the first time they saw her in person. He had been extremely excited and couldn't stop talking about it. He might have gone overboard with the gifts for everyone, especially for baby Ellen, but he had no regrets.
So here they were, celebrating their first Christmas in the White House. Lawson accepted his duties as first man like a pro and he and Ellen were constantly busy, but they still made sure to make time for each other. Lawson felt like his heart was going to burst with excitement and happiness. He was truly blessed, and he and Ellen both deserved this true happiness.
