Emily had no idea what she was doing at the club. She was not the clubbing type. Never had been, and she didn't intend to become one in the near future. It had been a rough Friday at school. She had trouble maintaining order over her classes for some reason which left her burnt out by the end of the day. That wasn't the only reason she felt the urge to have a drink or two. Emily was finally starting to realize how lonely she actually was. Yeah, she had friends at work, but the minute she went home, all she had was the silence to keep her company.
Never before had she really questioned her single status. Actually, she used to believe it was something to be proud of. She only started feeling so alone after summer was over. Em supposed it was because she had such a fulfilled summer away in France. She had been able to write, paint, read, go to museums, and she met some extraordinary people. When it was time for her to come home, she realized how extremely dull her regular life was. Her life never used to be so boring, and she couldn't help but wonder how it had gotten to be that way.
She used to live in New York City, where everyone was alive. Sure, she was broke and never knew if she'd even have enough money to eat day to day, but it was far from boring. Now she had security. She had a job that paid well, but it had turned her life into something so routine. She was beginning to wonder if it was even worth the money if she wasn't doing anything extraordinary.
So, she decided she was going to branch out. She was no longer going to sit at home on this Friday night like she usually did. Em decided she'd give Club Fusion a shot again, but this time with an open mind. Before, she had despised the club. She hated the loud music, the lights, and all of the drunkards. But that was when she had a preconceived idea. Because she wasn't a party girl, she didn't really have anything club appropriate. So she went with the closest thing she could find, and at eight o'clock, she left her house for a night at Club Fusion.
As soon as she entered, she immediately regretted her decision to come. She really didn't fit in, and the fact she was along made her look really pathetic. But she had already wasted the gas coming here, so she decided to take a seat at the bar and get a drink. When the bartender pushed her drink to her, she took a sip, her brown eyes scanning the room for a familiar face.
i feel so alone on a friday night, can you make it feel like home
