FULL NAME merrick christopher matthews
AGE thirty two
BIRTHDAY october thirty first
SUBJECT(S) math; pre-calculus, calculus and trigonometry
merrick stands at around 5’10 and weighs in at 182 pounds. his eyes are the common-found mixture of both green and blue. when he was younger, mer was known for having much longer hair than he does now. with his teaching position, he tries to keep himself looking proper and clean-shaven with short, dirty-blond hair. his attire usually consists of something classy and he loves wearing plaid.
partying, drinking, occasional drug use, secretly hanging out with students outside of class, math, helping students succeed, loud music, football, crowded spaces, hockey, younger girls, travelling
class clowns, being told what to do by someone younger than himself, getting called an alcoholic, being scorned for his partying habits, warm weather, thinking about his childhood, his deceased father, blackmail
charming, sophisticated, intelligent, attractive, persuasive, fairly likeable teacher
interest in younger girls, being stuck in the past, drug/alcohol use, partying habits, stubborn, headstrong
merrick is a charming young man. he has an excellent way with words and is very good at seeming likeable to his students, which makes him a wonderful teacher. he loves watching his students succeed and he loves math. he doesn't like it when people tell him what to do and is pretty competitive when it comes to sports.
unfortunately, mer also enjoys partying. maybe a tad bit too much. though he denies it, he's quite the alcoholic. he also enjoys the occasional drug use. he finds himself frequently blacking out and sharing his bed with a girl he's never seen before, and usually never sees again. he simply says that he's just having a good time, but it appears he hasn't left his own college/high school years. he’s normally good at keeping this side of him outside of work, but it’s not rare for him to party with students. in fact, he’s hosted secret student parties before, promoting underage drinking and drug use. hopefully word about his little nightly adventures doesn’t get around to the other staff..
he also has a dark side to him, due to his past. he's on medication, though he refuses to see any sort of therapist for his depression. his mood can easily change in a flash. there are some days where he loves people, and others where he hates them. on those days he hates people, he often comes off rude and insensitive and enjoys spending time alone
merrick was born and rasied in australia to an alcoholic, emotionally and physically abusive father and a rather weak mother. his father often cheated on his mother, yet his mother stayed with him despite the cheating and abuse. that was until mer was ten and his mother fled the country with her only son, hoping to get away from her terrifying husband. she went to america, where she was born and her side of the family lived, and merrick spent the remainder of his adolescent years in california.
his father was quite the determined man, and managed to track down mer and his mother when mer was fifteen. his father convinced his mother that he had changed, and to merrick's horror, his mother got back together with him. at this time, mer began to rebel and turned to alcohol and drugs. his father, in actuality, hadn't changed at all and was still tipping back bottles. merrick had to watch yet again as his mother's mentality was destroyed by his father.
when merrick was seventeen, he couldn't take it much longer. he managed to poison his father. it was eventually ruled as an accidental drug overdose. his mother wept and mourned, though never knowing what mer had actually done, and the boy has lived with the secret of murdering his father ever since.
wanting to leave his past behind, mer did not see any sort of psychologist. he continued with his own alcohol and drug abuse, furthering his own severed connection with his mother. he never truly got over the incident, nor has he ever spoken to or told anyone about it. he has spent most of his adult life on anti-depressants, which has proved nearly fatal when he mixes it with one of his wild, booze-filled nights. his mother feared he would face the same fate as his father, so merrick decided to cut all ties with her.
he left his hometown in california shortly after receiving his masters in mathematical education and has been a math professor at three different schools. he has now settled down to teach at wentworth.
Ah, The Three Broomsticks. Trevor had missed this place, though the last time he had visited it hadn't been too long ago. It was one of his most favorite places to visit in Hogsmeade, just because he enjoyed himself some butterbeer every once in a while. Today, he just wasn't feeling it. Maybe they had some simple hot chocolate or something like that. He had come alone, only because it was a short-notice trip and he didn't feel like dragging anyone along with him. He also figured that he would see someone he knew here, and go join them. That was usually what went down whenever he went to Hogsmeade. It was such a popular place for the older Hogwarts students. He knew he would actually miss it when he left, though he still had no idea what he was going to do when he graduated.
His life hadn't been all too action packed recently, but he should have been happy about that. He actually preffered not having too much drama, and it was a relief from previous events of this year. He told himself he was fine with that, but the truth was, he was bored. The only non boring thing he had been doing recently was annoying Annie. As he shoved the door open and took a quick glance around, he noticed the place wasn't all too packed. That's when his eyes caught sight of Coal. He hadn't talked to him decently since that little 'incident'. It was time for a little confrontation, perhaps?
Trevor strode toward the table Coal sat at and instantly sat down across from him without even asking. This kid had been the main reason he had had a lot of weird problems earlier on in the year, "Oh, wow, look what the cat barfed up," he began casually. Of course, that sounded like something he would say to Annie, "You owe me about one thousand dollars, I hope you know," he continued, clasping his hands together and placing them on the table in front of him, "For causing my mental instability, which required a therapist, and my social problems."
