you turn me up, you turn me upside down
Carmen did nothing but sit in silence and listen to the things Savanna was saying to her, but she was unable to deny that a lump had formed in her throat somewhere down the line. She knew she had to tell her what she was thinking, what was truly on her mind now, but she was unsure of just how it would be received. She shifted, debating continuing with her silence, but she knew the look in her eyes gave away that there was something on her mind.
"You just need to simmer down, there, firecracker. I know you're used to things going this way or that way, but whatever's between us really isn't anything yet," she said, her voice cracking towards the end. Carmen knew how she felt and she knew how Savanna felt, but they hadn't taken any action to moving things forward and she was okay with that. "I'm not saying that I don't like you. I wouldn't be here if I didn't; you weren't always nice, right? I'm just saying...like, I don't know, back track to that. Take a step back and tell me that my shoes are too beat up to wear around anymore or that I can't wear my leather jacket with a dress, alright? Everything else will come with time, when it's supposed to."
She surprised herself, even. She'd never been so logical when dealing with something like this before, though maybe she'd just never had the need to be. As much as she had truly loved Kennedy, there was nothing about their relationship that could even be remotely pinned back to maturity. This whole thing would be different for her, too, but it was imminently clear that Savanna was a lot more damaged than she was letting on. When she looked up, Sav was going in for a kiss, which she returned with matched passion. Carmen couldn't suppress the feeling of longing when they broke away, but she choked it down.
Her body tensed up when she felt Savanna's hands travel down to her hips, goosebumps trailing bumps down her arms. "Don't do that," she warned, biting her lip, "or all of this big talk will be in vain, alright?" Playfully, and with the best intentions in mind, she pushed her hands away and held them down to her sides. Carmen kissed her again, a quick little peck on the lips, before releasing her hands and wrapping her arms around Savanna.
