The streets were quiet except for the clicking of heels on the cement. Her ankles were wobbly as they tried to support the rest of her body on the high heels, but Victoria knew it was also because she had had a little too much at the club. A particular misstep had Victoria falling against a wooden fence to steady herself and examine her ankle. It was fine. The distant sound of a police siren made her look up, her blonde hair falling in front of her right eye. She looked around the dark city and noticed she wasn't in a very good neighborhood. Where was she, exactly? She hadn't had enough alcohol to black out so she knew she must have spaced out as she walked. That was all she'd really wanted to do, anyway. Walk. Her life was crumbling down in front of her and she had no idea of how to stop and rebuild it. So in order to escape everything she blasted the clean version of P!nk's "Blow Me One Last Kiss" and got dressed up. She was going to look good and go have fun by herself. No friends, no family, just herself. A few guys had flirted with her but she let them know she wasn't interested. Right now she just wanted to forget everything she was and her past, so a few times she lied about her name. She was at a club in another city, of course; people would recognize her in Wentworth since the town was so small.
After she'd had enough of dancing Victoria wanted quiet so she decided she'd walk home, not realizing how far away she was from her dorm. And just now she realized she was going the wrong way after walking for however long. But she wasn't about to let herself get scared. Her eyes scanned the road for a cab but there wasn't a single car around. She sighed and turned around, trying to find her way back to the club. It was only 1:30 AM and the club was open until 3 AM on Fridays and Saturdays so she'd be able to make it in time to call a cab. She hoped. Now that she hadn't been absorbed in her thoughts she was able to feel the ache in her feet. The world kept tilting ever so slightly around her and she sighed in frustration. A few times a single car would whizz by and Victoria would only have a few seconds to hide from view. But she ended up getting an adrenaline rush when she was never seen. Finally she was able to get back to the club and call a cab. She had just enough money to pay for the fare and tip. Now that she was back on campus she laughed at all the fun she'd had by herself. Who would believe that she'd gone to the big city by herself and stayed out until 3 in the morning? Thank goodness it was a Saturday.
She was wide awake so she decided to be even braver and go into the abandoned class building. She sat at one of the old desks and found one filled with old notes. Her curiosity got the best of her and she began looking through them. Other than the papers crinkling every so often as Victoria moved to the next note, it was quiet. Until Victoria heard the doorknob turn. She froze for a moment before hiding behind an old desk that the teachers used.
