Finally after weeks of unpacking, arranging, and adjusting, the Blanchard Family was finally fully moved into their home. It was so lovely to be able to spread out and not feel cramped like she did in her old New York Apartment. Aurora slept down the hall from her and James, not right next door. She was also very excited because there was enough room for her to turn one of the spare rooms into a darkroom. Now she wouldn't have to go to the University to develop her pictures. Her husband was also working on building her a little building in the backyard that she could use as her studio. Clara could stay home, watch her daughter, and work all at the same time. It was so ideal.
The family celebrated their move in with a lovely home cooked meal. Thankfully, her husband was able to get the night off from the hospital. Huggins was much more flexible than Columbia Presbyterian was. Clara had a feeling she'd be able to see her husband a lot more now than when they lived in the city. After they finished, Clara suggested they introduce themselves to their neighbors. She felt like it was the right time. Actually, she felt that it was a little late. If she had it her way, she would have introduced herself weeks ago. But things just kept getting in the way. So she held Aurora's hand and followed her husband as they made the trek to the house next door.
She had baked cookies for whoever her neighbor(s) were. She hoped they were nice people. Maybe she'd even make a friend. Clara walked up the steps behind her husband. She played with her daughter's hair and held a meaningless conversation as the family waited for someone to answer the door.
