Clara couldn't believe she was back in Rhode Island after so many years. She never thought she'd be back after so many years. After leaving Rehab midway through college, she felt no desire to come back to the place where it all began. Rhode Island was where she lost her soul, and it took years of therapy and counselling to get it back. Now after over a decade, it felt so weird to be back again. She was invited to deliver a lecture to the photography class at the Rhode Island School of Design immediately after they learned she was back in Rhode Island. Clara obliged just because she was curious. The school had changed quite a bit, but that wasn't unexpected. Schools often renovated and added on new buildings. It was delivering the lecture that really threw her through a loop. Being on the other side of the classroom for the first time was so weird for her.
Yes, being back in this little state was certainly going to take some getting used to. For the most part, her family was all settled into their new home. It was a decent sized home in the nice part of town. It was much more spacious and appropriate for raising a child than the apartment they had in New York. Plus, Clara had been aching to get a dog for years. The apartment they had in New York never would have been able to handle a dog and a baby. The new house they had was absolutely perfect for a dog! With that in mind, Clara mentally made a note to herself to introduce herself to her new neighbors. She felt horrible for not doing so yet, but there was so much going on.
Today she was giving herself the day off. Well, sort of giving herself the day off. She was taking Aurora to the park to play; it would be mommy/daughter time. The last time they had mommy/daughter day was back when they were in New York. But today would be dedicated entirely to her beautiful three year old girl!. The sun was shining as they walked through the park. Spring seemed to finally be here for real. As they were walking through the park, Clara must have lost track of Aurora because she was running off in the direction towards another little girl. Clara ran after her daughter. Her girl was shaking the other girl's hand, and Clara couldn't help but laugh. "Oh my gosh! Aurora don't run off like that!" she said, a bit out of breath. Her brown eyes noticed a woman next to the other little girl. "I'm so sorry miss! You know how kids are," she said smiling. "My name's Clara, Clara Andrews-Blanchard," she said, holding out her hand.
