If there was ever a time in her life that Marion was happy with the fact that she had accidentally left early for her class, it would be right now. Thinking that her class started at 3:30, she had left her dorm room at approximately 3:00, giving her 30 minutes to get to class and find a good seat, and she had figured that it would be an ideal amount of time to set aside for such a thing, especially since she was really only about 15 minutes away. Apparently though, her class not only started at 4:30 instead of 3:30 like she had originally thought, a fact she had discovered as she was double checking her classroom number and time as she was nearing campus, but the building that it was being held in was completely different from what it actually was. Where she had thought Burgens Hall was, there was only Filmore, and that really threw her for a loop. Where was she supposed to go? How was she going to find her class? Would she find it in time? It was because of this that she was so very grateful that her lucky stars had granted her with a misinterpretation of her schedule.
With a perplexed look upon her features, Marion made her way to the closest bench that she could find, the coolness of the stone biting through the thin material of her leggings, with the irregular bumps poking at her skin uncomfortably. As much as Marion liked just sitting around and not moving, the feeling of just resting a nice change from the constant motion of her busy life, she really couldn’t wait to figure out what she was going to do so that she could move away from her uncomfortable perch. The only reason she was sitting on the bench in the first place was because she didn’t have anywhere to just stand to figure things out or a wall to lean against, and she didn’t want to just stand around in the middle of the sidewalk looking at her phone in confusion. If she did that, there would be a possibility that she would be in other people’s way, and she didn’t want to do that; so, she had elected to instead take a seat on this deceivingly uncomfortable bench, and she was quickly regretting her decision. She would just have to figure out her situation quickly, then.
Handy-dandy phone in hand, Marion was quick to click upon her internet app, hoping to look up the building that she needed to get to so she could try and find some general directions. However, she was met with only irritation as her eyes looked upon a blindingly white screen, the words of her phones failure to connect to the internet display in grey letters in the center of the page. “Are you kidding me right now, Sparrow?” She muttered under her breath, cursing quietly at her phone for not being able to connect to the internet. It seemed that she had reached the dead zone of her school’s campus and Sparrow, her phone that was so flighty and unstable that it rarely ever did anything she wanted, but which she was too lazy to actually replace, had absolutely no service. Cursing under her breath once more, she got up to go and try and find a building that offered free wi-fi nearby so that she could hack into the service and try and get her unpredictable phone to lead her to the correct building in time for class, and that was when she say someone walking buy.
Despite the size of the campus and surprisingly large amount of students that attend the University, the sidewalks had been surprisingly silent, and Marion could only figure that everybody was either in class already and actually following the correct schedule or that she was simply in an area that did not receive a lot of student traffic. Whatever the case, she was surprisingly alone for the small chunk of time that she had spent trying to get her tortoise of a phone to work correctly, so it was nice to see someone else walking around who could just maybe direct her to where she needed to be. Quickly gathering her things, Marion confidently made her way over to the only other person around, her short legs doing their best to take long strides in hopes of getting her where she wanted to be swiftly. “Excuse me?” She said loud enough to capture his attention but not so much as to startle him. “Sorry to bother you but do you know the way to Burgens Hall? I thought it was around here but I guess I was wrong and now I have no idea where to go,” she said sheepishly, hoping that this stranger could help. She didn’t know what she would do if he couldn’t.
