"Today's the day, today is the day!" Tom had been filled with excitement the moment he rolled from his bed this morning. It was one of those days where nothing could go wrong. The kind of day where you spent the whole time with friends... Too bad Tom didn't really have any friends. Well of course he had people who he knew and would see here and there, the occasional hello and small talk from a former or current classmate who he had done an assignment with, the professors he assisted, the weird lot he would accompany to comic con every year. Now those were an odd group, they spent most of their time on Tumblr and Facebook, or in their parents basements doing Lord knows what because Tom could never bring himself to attend one of their at home get togethers. Yet, with all the different kinds of individuals that he would come in contact with and meet over his 19 years of existence, only his sister has ever really been a friend to him. He never fit into any particular social group and had become too use to being an outcast, a lonely outcast; because the isolation did take its toll.
None of that mattered today though, it was a new day and a great day that he was going to enjoy whether he wanted to or not. "Today's the day, today is the day!" He said again as he pulled out his outfit, now using the word outfit was a bit of an exaggeration. Actually he was only wearing a pair of blue jeans, black and white converses, and a t-shirt that had the black silhouette of David Tennant as the 11th Doctor and Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes facing each other with the words 'I'd call you a genius, except I'm in the room' written beneath it. He stood in his mirror examining the shirt before putting a black blazer over it. "Not too obvious right? Nah, not too obvious at all, I think I look rather dashing if I do say so myself." Spinning on his heels, he grabbed his things and left. There was a skip in his step and a laugh in his voice as he made his way to Hoyt Cinema, he had never really been to this theater before, but this was a very special occasion. Upon arriving Tom couldn't even believe what he was seeing; he didn't think it was going to be this big. There was everything from the common guy dressed as the 10th and 11th, to someone in an Angel costume, there was even a girl wearing a Dalek dress. "Today's the day! 50th Doctor Who Anniversary Special being globally broadcasted simultaneously across 23 Countries!" It had been a month since Tom had purchased his ticket for the showing, which means it had been a month that he has been slowly going insane with theories.
A mysterious Doctor during a war? Which war? The last great war? Does he get to see the Doctor's death? No, they wouldn't do that, they wouldn't show his death..."What could it be?" He shouted at the ticket taker who stood to the front of the theater lobby. They weren't even letting people get that far without a ticket wow. "No really, tell me, what do you think it could be?" The girl just looked at him like he was a madman, which he probably was. "I mean because come on, come on!" He spun around on his heels staring at the ceiling "We got Gallifrey, war, broken promises, Billie Piper, a Doctor who isn't 'The Doctor'," he said with air quotations "and three Doctors.... Three Doctors! My mind is swimming!" Her eyes had glazed over this was a lost cause. He took his ticket stub and continued to the concession stand. He had arrived over two hours early so he could get a good seat but he'd sit on the theater stairs if he had to. "What to get, what to get?" He tapped the front of his lips with his index finger as he gazed from the treats in the case to the other people in the theater who may or may not have been going to the same spectacular event as him.
