Alexander couldn't believe he was actually nervous. He stood in front of his bedroom mirror and looked himself over. He was wearing a suit and his hair was combed back so that there wasn't a stray piece in sight. Tonight he would be playing his trombone at a ball. The group he was part of only had to play a few songs before they'd be able to join in the festivities. The ball was to celebrate the fall season. When he first found out about it, Alex intended on just playing and then going home. But when he saw his good friend, Vic, so down in the dumps he figured asking her to be his +1 wouldn't be a bad idea. She could use a night out on the town. Plus, he knew she loved dolling herself up and going out. Alex, on the other hand, was not so fond of that. But for her, he'd do it.
When he extended the offer, she had enthusiastically accepted. Thankfully, his kindness hadn't been rejected. If it had, he probably would have just given up. Now that it was the day of the ball, he wondered if it was such a good idea. For some odd reason he was just really nervous; he never got nervous. Especially over dates. And this wasn't even really a date, it was two friends getting together and having a good time, right? His feelings for his friend were undeniable. She was lovely. Beautiful, smart and witty all at the same time, but she was leagues ahead of him. After all, a girl like Victoria didn't just fall into love with someone like him. But the heart longed for what it couldn't have, and Alex was determined not to let his feelings get in the way of this friendship.
At exactly 7:30, he took a deep breath and left his apartment, heading over to pick up Vic. He was sort of excited to see how she looked. He knew she loved fashion, and this would be the first time he had ever gotten the chance to see her really dressed up. On the flip side, he knew this was probably one of the first times Vic had ever seen him dressed up. Even after playing in a concert, Alex made a point to remove his tie or take off his blazer. Tonight every article of clothing was in place just as every strand of hair was combed back.
When he got to her place, he let out another breath of air to try and calm his nerves. Then he exited his car, and made his way through the halls before finally getting to Victoria's dorm. He waited a second before knocking. When the door opened he smiled. He was right, she looked absolutely stunning."Wow, Victoria you look beautiful," he said sincerely.
