Abigale couldn't believe this was happening. One moment she was settled in Massachusetts, ready to start her education at Harvard. Her roommate wasn't bad; she was a business major while Abigale was pre law, so there wasn't much competition. Thankfully, she wasn't in communications, or else Abigale would be insanely jealous. Everything seemed to be going fine, her professors were awesome, and she was actually feeling like she belonged there. And then she got the call from her parents. Allison was missing. Abigale couldn't even function after finding that out. Her mom and dad told her not to come home or worry, but she couldn't help it.
Despite the fact the two of them weren't getting along right now, Abigale still loved her. After all, she had practically raised the girl. She had already lost Andrew to death, so she was not losing Allison. Even if she had to go out and search for her sister herself, she would. But knowing mother and father, they had the best people out looking for her. With that in mind, Abigale tried going to classes and continuing on with her education. But it was too hard. Her mind wasn't in it. All she could think of was her sister.
So she packed up her bags and dropped out of Harvard. Her mom and dad didn't know; she didn't have the heart to tell them. She didn't know where to go from here. Going home would mean the wrath of her parents, and she didn't have the money to buy her own place. When she went off to school, she rejected any money her parents offered her. If she was going to be independent, she was going to truly be independent, but right now she wished she had accepted some cash from them.
As she drove back to Rhode Island, she remembered her Uncle Lawson. Hopefully he'd let her stay with him for a few days, or at least give her some money to stay at a hotel. If not, she'd be stuck living in her car until she found a job. So she found herself at the doorstep of where her Uncle was staying, a suitcase and handbag in hand. She knocked a few times, and when he opened the door, she let out a sigh of relief. "I dropped out of Harvard," she said. "Allison's missing, I couldn't concentrate, and I know mom and dad are going to be furious," she was on the brink of tears, but she couldn't cry. "I didn't have anywhere else to go. I don't know what to do."
and one day closer to death.
