Alec loved his family more than he could even express. He was willing to die for them if he needed to. Years ago he never would have thought he'd be married to a beautiful woman with a baby, but he was, and he was happy. "I love them so much," he said sincerely."And I see the way you look at Ellen. You really love her. I hope Vic and I still love each other after fifteen years," he said, his eyes hopeful. What he had with Victoria was so real right now, he would do anything to keep it that way even after he took his last breath.
When his daughter yawned, Alex knew she'd have to be put to bed soon. He figured after milk and cookies, he'd let Ellen and Lawson put her to sleep. He laughed when Lawson mentioned being manly. "I'm in the arts, so being manly doesn't really apply," he said with a laugh. The majority of his friends were gay, and whenever he tried mentioning baseball or football, they'd look at him in disgust. Like he was betraying them by following sports. When he started getting restless, Alex took her from Lawson and patted her gently on the back. "I guess she does," he said as Ellen started calming down.
Soon the women were back with milk and cookies. And if he had a free hand, he would have taken one of the delicious looking cut outs, but alas he didn't. "She was a little restless. I think she's just tired," he said, rocking his daughter. He sighed in contentment when Vic kissed him, and when she fed him a cookie he grinned. "Wow! Vic wasn't lying when she said these were awesome." They really were. Maybe he could smuggle some back home after their visit.
Just when he thought the evening couldn't get any better, Ellen asked Vic to make her a dress for an event. Alex knew Vic would be brimming with excitement. After all, his wife was waiting for the opportunity to finally make a name for herself outside of costume design. "What?! I'm offended! Why didn't you ask me to conduct the band? I do a pretty epic Fanfare for the Common Man," he said, shock on his face. He winked and laughed so everyone knew he was just kidding. "But in all seriousness this is amazing," he said. His wife would finally get the chance to shine, and seeing her happy made him happy.
