Living life like I'm in a play, in the lime light I want to stay
The previous summer and even school year had been so busy for Ryker that she felt certain parts of her life were getting highly neglected, one of those being her social life. More than that, she'd neglected time with her best friend and now she'd gone off to college. Time was flying by, and if she didn't stop to take the reigns soon, high school would be over before she knew it. Already she was a senior, but she could remember her first day here, her first room, the first person she talked to. It all seemed...surreal.
Though the year had just started and their first break wouldn't be for a while yet, Ryker knew she had to make up her absence in Aria's life somehow. That, and she definitely couldn't complain about some time away from the school to clear her head after everything that had been going on. So she packed up her bags, tossed them in the trunk of her car, and sped off to Yale unannounced. About halfway there, she called Aria up and told her she was coming to visit.
It wasn't until she'd parked in the guest parking did she begin to feel nervous...and somewhat overwhelmed. Although she'd already received her acceptance letter to her college of choice, she hadn't realized just how intimidating all of this could seem. It reminded her vaguely of starting high school all over again, except on a much larger, more frightening scale. Ryker pulled out her phone, shut her car off, and texted Aria to let her know she was here. She doubted that they would have a guest office or anything of the sort, and she had no idea where Aria was staying.
By the time the two girls had met up, Ryker was so excited to see Aria that she immediately flung her arms around her and pulled her into a tight hug. "I am so, so happy to see you!" She didn't know to even begin; there was so much to say in such a seemingly small amount of time, but she also didn't want to lay everything out right on the welcome mat. "So, show me your new digs. You know when I heard that you'd pretty much have your own place I worried about decoration. But it's okay, we'll get you all unpacked, order a pizza, go shopping and talk about boys...and okay, the occasional girl. I'm sorry in advance."
She paused then, just long enough to scurry around to the back of her car and grab pull her bag out. "If there's not enough room to stay at your place I can get a hotel, it's no big deal. I just really missed you and thought it might be kind of nerve-wrecking to be away from everything you know. How are you doing? Are people nice? Any hot professors?" Ryker smiled at her, a gesture to show that she was just playing around. It was a way for her to break the ice, to get to how she was really feeling about all the changes taking place.
I've got a big ego, I really don't know why it's such a big deal, though
