Since the twins were born, the young couple had found it harder and harder to have a moment alone without it having it involve the babies, work or the stresses of the day. Sometimes they would be so tired that they would just go to bed without even telling each other they loved each other. That was a hard pill to swallow for how much these two loved each other, yet they did. Emma loved and adored Alec, he made her feel appreciated and loved, and he made her feel beautiful. They would have late night dinners together after the babies were put to bed, but beyond that there was hardly anything. What was wrong with this picture? No love in the bed? That's what was missing, the moments for it to just be just them two. To sit down and be in each others arms and talk or just not talk at all. So for the weekend, her step-mother offered to take care of little Caleb and Lindsey for the weekend, and even take Miles to. She insisted that Emma and Alec needed a weekend to unwind and just be together. Emma was hesitant at first. She never wanted to let her babies go, and they were so young to be without her. It took some coaxing from Alec and Collin to get Emma and agree to leave for a few days. On their way they were to Alec's parents beach house.
On the drive out there, Emma sat cross legged in the passenger side seat, and looked out the window through her aviator shades. She let her long hair down, half tied back with a hair tie, and she rested her elbow against the window. How did she let them talk her into this? She loved the idea of getting out and having a break, but it meant at the expense of leaving behind her babies. She bit her lip and watched the scenery changed from small town, to the sandy coast. She felt a strong hand stroke her thigh gently and she turned her head and looked at her husband. She placed her hand on his and gave him a reassuring smile. She was going to make the most of this. They pulled up the drive, and slowly got out. She watched Alec round the Land Rover to the front and survey the scenery. She put her arm over her stomach and looked at Alec. Make the most of it, she thought and walked to Alec and wrapped her arms around him front behind. Feeling his strong back against her chest.
