She'd thought in the beginning that her wound was only a flesh wound or surface wound and would only leave a scratch, but the bullet had actually opened a vein, causing her to lose a lot of blood. She'd needed a transfusion. So here she was- lying in a hospital bed with a needle in her arm that was refilling her body with blood. She was still in shock but it was slowly turning back to shaky fear. Never in her life had she thought she'd need a blood transfusion or would be shot. Despite trying not to, she was sinking into herself and shutting down again. Trying to be strong was actually making her weaker, but she didn't realize it. She dreaded the phone call to her dad telling him where she was. He'd freaked out and visited her the next day in the early morning. He'd wanted to visit her that night she was shot, but she was exhausted and begged him not to come visit. So earlier that day her dad and his new wife, Chelsea, had visited her. Of course her dad had told her that she'd need to make sure to not fall behind in school work, and that was when she'd shut down and told him she was tired again. Thankfully he'd left before she'd thrown a paper cup at him. The nerve of him! She'd told Collin to go to school. She didn't want him to miss school, despite the fact that she wanted him there with her. But school was more important right now, and Ariel knew she could handle being by herself. Her nurse and doctor were nice enough, too. It was about three o'clock in the afternoon and she realized she'd been staring out of her window for about ten minutes. She blinked and turned on the TV, wondering who was going to visit her today. Collin said he'd come back as soon as he could after school, and she believed him. Her dad had told Joey what had happened, but she asked that Joey not worry too much and just go to school. He could visit her afterwards. She wondered if he would come visit, but she knew that it was silly to doubt it. She wasn't sure what to feel right now or what to think. She was numb again, really. But that was a good thing; it was keeping her safe from the horrible shock. Just one more day in the hospital and she'd be able to go home. Her dad told her he wanted her to stay at the house for the next few days instead of her dorm, but she wasn't sure how she felt about that. She hadn't told her mom, and thankfully her dad hadn't, either. She didn't want her mom to come back and act all sorry only to have her be hurtful and mean again as soon as Ariel was better. She sighed angrily and leaned back on her bed, staring out the window again. She was scared right now. Terrified. And there was nothing worse for her than to be alone with her thoughts while she was scared or terrified. She wanted someone close to her to just wrap their arms around her and keep her safe, but she wasn't able to have that right now. She felt so alone. tag: Open word count: ### outfit: hospital gown notes: wounded and shaky Ariel. |
